Here are some of the websites I'm excited about these days:
SocialVibeIf you are a
Wordpress user, you might recognize this plugin. This website is a social networking website (like
Facebook) with limited functions to choose the sponsor of your choice, charity of your choice and network with people in the forum or do activity (like completing surveys) to raise money for the charity.
TumblrAlthough it doesn't have much functionality to customize the whole feel to your website or add new plugins and such, this website combines the simple micro blogging functionality of
Twitter (Check out also for
Plurk) and the simplicity to publishing anything at all like
Wordpress.
SparkpeopleSparkpeople caught my attention when I was searching for a good abdomen workout in
YouTube by Nicole - see
here. About a year later, this website blossomed into such a very cool portal with everything about fitness combined with a social networking function as well.
Lifehacker rated this website to be the best weight-management tool - see
here.
MahaloI started following on this website because the very beautiful
Veronica Belmont from
CNET Download became the host of previous
Mahalo Daily. Mahalo had aspired to be the first human powered portal. It's gotten so impressive that they have developed a system that rewards users who develop or administer a page with Mahalo dollars (which then could be converted to Paypal money). They have three parts,
Mahalo portal;
Mahalo Answers (much like
Yahoo Answers) and
Mahalo Tasks (where people set tasks and users can do it for a reward).
HowStuffWorksMarshall Brain started this website with simplicity in each article having to answer a "How to.." question. The website started off as an online magazine style and now it's almost as good as a portal with social functions. It's almost as good as
About.com.
Wikipedia.com and
Answers.com are still the best though.
SquidooI first found out about this website when I started the
Simplicity 101 (of
simple.ology) from
Mark Joyner. Many people wanted to
make money online and
Squidoo has the exact system to help them.
Squidoo allows users to create a "
Lens" as they call it; to publish articles, galleries, advertisements, video, polls and such to attract attention. The mastermind creator is
Seth Godin, the genius marketing expert (whom you could see in
marketing books and
videos). The more the "Lens" got views and sales, the creator can then choose to donate; or make money off it. They do have
a plan to give certain percentage to themselves, the creator and charity.
